"The knowledge came to the knight suddenly, without warning, and it shook him to his very core. He had been cursed, you see, because he failed to protect the person he needed to most—and now he paid the price with his death, made to haunt a cabin which kept him in in recurring dreams and nightmares until dusk. Dusk... yes, dusk. The only time of day he could break the spelll momentarily and remember what he was supposed to do now, the only time he could actually leave the cabin. In order to set himself free, he had to atone by finding that person he had failed... and so he left the cabin, searching once again in the little time he had until nightfall, and as usual he appeared as a monstrous beast to all those he came across, attacked upon sight and with little luck. Worst of all: Many years have gone by, and the knight realizes that his time is running out. After all, the person he is searching for will inevitably die at some point, and the cabin is bound to disappear, too.
Eventually time runs out and the knight disappears, forever alone."
Thanks! But I think the end could use some work, since the suspense just cuts off. I'm not that great at describing something terrifying like... well, being stuck in in a dark space forever with no way out. Do one of you want to try?
[ he kind of went into detail with how he imagines it anyway but ]
I think you just described it... His time runs out, and the knight is forever trapped in darkness." Maybe with a "And at dusk you can still hear him wandering"... or calling or something like that.

But this isn't a story with a happy end. The knight continued to wander, with little luck, and eventually the person he was searching for died, dooming him to forever be locked in dreams and nightmares instead. And even worse, now he knows he's stuck, forced to act out roles in his dreams while being complete aware of it. But sometimes... only sometimes, mind you, if you are out during dusk you might just hear him wandering and calling for the person he lost... lucky him, for wearing down the curse, right? But not so lucky for you, because being forced through that sort of thing and him being given the form of a beast sure won't end well."
