I've suggested meat. What else?

Meat isn't really a necessity ... ah, well -- food, water, a place to sleep, warmth in the cold, companionship ... that sort of thing.

Meat came up as it's a bird of prey with a bloody beak. But food works just as well.

It's more general, at least.
