Carnelian

[ You are in a dirt-walled storeroom filled with burlap sacks. It smells like apples. The sacks are, in fact, filled with apples of all colors, if you open them. The walls are strung with something like Christmas lights, if Christmas lights were shaped like apples.

In the center of the room is a low table with a handful of pens, a stack of red slips of paper, and a stack of green slips of paper. There are also thirteen envelopes -- one labeled To Start, and the rest labeled:

2. Carnelian
3. Citrine
4. Coral
5. Emerald
6. Iolite
7. Kunzite
8. Peridot
9. Ruby
10. Sapphire
11. Tiger's Eye
12. Turquoise ]

Black writing inks itself under the words To Start on the first envelope. It reads:

Instructions:

On each of the twenty red cards, write one noun, and a definition of the word.

(A noun is a person, place, or thing.)

On each of the three green cards, write one adjective, and a definition of the word.

(An adjective is a describing word that gives more information about a noun.)

When you are finished, place all the cards in this envelope.

That seems simple enough.

SCHOOL: A place where they shut you up and make you learn things when you want to be outside.
LITERACY: The quality of being able to read and write.
SKY: Something wide and impossibly vast.
YAKISOBA BREAD: A dish of fried noodles and vegetables, but better because now it’s a sandwich. Much tastier than dango.
MAGIC & WIZARDS: A strategic card game played by two people.
CURE MATERIA: A magic rock.
NAILS: Sharp, pointy pieces of metal used in carpentry. Grow on trees. Inedible according to Mother Goose.
BYAAARURU: The smallest eels
CAT: A wise and respected creature that enjoys being petted.
PYAUU: A scrape on your foot from stepping on a sharp rock
TREE: If you don’t know why trees are super important I can’t fit it on this card.
HIPPO: A word that makes anything you say after it sound funny. “Hippo example!”
ROCKZILES: An adorable lizard-like animals that keep your cabin safe from trespassers.
BANANA: A legendary and delicious weapon.
GORM: An imaginary thing that’s easily lost.
PANCAKES: A food that I want to eat right now.
NINJA WORLD: It’s the world that’s all ninjas.
PYA: Bya.
TRAP CARD: A card that makes you lose the game.
A WERECAMEL: Yuri Lowell.

Seven noun cards appear at the edge of the table, and writing appears in shining gold around the dark walls of the room:

There will be twelve rounds of game play. Each team will judge a round, in order.

To start every round, an adjective will appear underneath a team name. You put the noun card you think the judging team will like the most in the envelope to be submitted anonymously. The judging team will choose the winning card, and the team that played the winning card will earn a point.

The teams with the most points will win the game.

[[ Every round, I will post the ROUND'S ADJECTIVE and a link to the SUBMISSION POST for that round. The submission post comments will all be screened. In an unscreened comment, I will post all of the submissions, and the judging team will choose a winner. ]]

EEL: any of numerous voracious elongate snakelike bony fishes that have a smooth slimy skin, lack pelvic fins, and have the median fins confluent around the tail OR tastes delicious
FISH: win staring contests every time.
Gemstones: apparently very important.
