Through the door, you find yourself in a room decorated entirely in white. The floor is made up of smooth marble tiles. The walls are covered in an elaborate floral wallpaper in white and pale grays. To your left is an enormous ivory wardrobe. Opposite it is a white wrought iron table with several chairs around it. There are five cards spread across the table.

Stepping through the doors, you find yourself on either a black onyx or white marble tile on a board set out in the middle of a great field. The sky above is overcast and grey. Beyond the edges of the board are great black and white hedges, with a little space between them and the board to walk around its circumference.

Once you've taken your places on the board, you hear Mother's voice again.

"Now that is as it should be. Beautiful, refined, not a single thing out of place—oh, I'm sorry, my dears, are you ready now? Dear Mother was just taking a moment to admire herself in the mirror.

"The game you will play is chess. I trust you've read the cards and understand the role that each of you will undertake in this endeavor. One move per team per turn and the first to capture the other's King attains victory. But that's all quite easy, isn't it? And after all, why should you yield in defense of your King simply because some fool fighting for the wrong side tells you to? Not to worry, though, dear Mother's thought of that as well. This game will also be a display of your skills. In persuasion, in combat, in standing your ground, what have you. When you take the space of another you may try to speak them down from it or you may take it by force. Now, run along little dears. Let's have the show begin. I would so hate to be disappointed."

[Rules: This is chess! To keep track of who's where on the board, please make a placeholder comment to the space you're currently occupying. When you move, you'll delete this comment and comment to the space you've moved to. That way it's easy to see when a confrontation occurs. Also please comment to the Turn list thread with the turn number in the subject of the comment (ie: Turn 1, Turn 2) and your move in the body (ie: A1 to A5, B1 to C3) so that it's easier for the other team to see when and where you've moved. You can use the Mingle comment on the bottom of the post for talking to the other team during the game.

When a confrontation occurs, please take the IC confrontation to the Confrontation thread at the bottom of the post and put the turn and the space in the subject line (ie: Turn 3, D5) You can then ICly play out the OOC results of the Confrontation.

Confrontation rules are as follows:
Both Attacker and Defender two three options: Attack and Persuade. Once you've selected your action, each team will select a delegated dice roller who will roll for all members of the team in the dice channel: #thisishowweroll The delegate for each team will roll a 3 sided die using the roll command and the results of the roll will decide the outcome. For example:

Shuri Oak is attacking Lelouch Lamperouge. Both players decide to use Persuade. Shuri rolls a 3 and the dice gods hate Lelouch so he gets a 0. Shuri successfully persuades Lelouch off the board so the players will ICly thread this out.

alternately

Wrath is attacking Naoto. Wrath decides to attack and Naoto decides to persuade. Wrath rolls a 1 and Naoto rolls a 2. Wrath will attack Naoto but Naoto's cunning linguistic skills win the day. The players will ICly thread this out.

In the event that both sides roll a 3 there will be a tie breaker roll to determine which one wins.

Both attacker and defender also have the option of giving up if they so choose. No penalty is taken if either side gives up, they just leave the board.

In the interests of time, play can proceed while the IC confrontations are threaded out.]
