[game 98: ruby and turquoise]
[You find yourself in what seems to be a small, sandy depression in the ground; you cannot climb the dunes to leave, and the sun is harsh and glaring, but bearable. There is a small dark pool in the center, but you may not want to refresh yourself with it — the water looks unfriendly. Writing stands out starkly on a small plinth in front of the pool, where it seems you're meant to leave your answers. Even if you cannot read it is strangely comprehensible.]
[RULES:
-You and your fellow team of heroes will be asked to divide 15 points between yourselves.
-You must come to an agreement about how this will be divided.
-For each point your team agrees to take, you will receive a certain amount of pain, in equal measure across all teammates. If you take 10 points, you will die painfully and be revived painlessly. Any more than that, and revivals will become increasingly painful, or perhaps impossible.
-The increase on the pain scale as you add more points is not completely straightforward. For example, there's a sharp divide between the amount of pain 7 and 8 points receives.
-Knights may choose to help you and bear points for you. However, the way each point taken from you in this way will be borne by any knights is different and harsher than it would be for you.
-If you have any questions, touch the water and ask them.
Will you be satisfied by the contract you bind yourselves to?]

[rests her hand on his back again, palm wide, pressing just a little so it feels more like support -- then chuckles a little]
A guy like that-- probably he really enjoys seeing people upset, so I think we shouldn't give him the satisfaction.
