❧ peridot

You find yourself in a densely wooded area, in a small clearing, facing a cabin. The windows all seem to be closed tightly, and there is a red "x" painted on the door.

There are several narrow pathways leading away into the forest, but it is dim and misty in the approaching twilight. Vines hang low from the trees, curling slightly, and the air is hushed and too quiet. There are no sounds of birds or animals.

[motioning to Beatrice and showing her the bag with the stats, talking quietly]

There's this sewn onto this bag of supplies, and look at their arms...what do you make of it?

[hmmm looking between everything, considering]

Ideally, we would test the dials to determine their exact effects, however...

I think our options are more limited than that.

You believe it is a problem of distribution of limited supplies? [gesturing to the bag]

Yes. They probably all desire comfort, at least two of them will need mending, and perhaps surgery as well. Luck could be useful for all of them, as well as intuition.

So, who do you care to save the most, or do you split things up equally, as Ven will want to do, and hope that is enough?

The girl needs more comfortin'. It's real scary for young kids, you can't explain it proper.

Comfort the young girl who is likely fine more than the man who is likely dying?

[nods to Viola] Other than the girl, they seem to be able to withstand their circumstances. Give her the majority of the comfort. Focus surgery on the most severe case, and try and use the leftovers to patch up the third.

Luck and intuition may be used to be make up for what we lack in other areas. On a scale of 1 to 20, chances are that small numbers will be all but useless, so if we want to have any effect, it's best to play the majority. Surgery and luck for the dying man, bandages and intuition for the broken boy, bed side manner and medicine for the girl?

[personal profile] boxupallthebutterflies 2011-08-21 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, well... Yes, in that case, this may be the safest option... Though in that case, we are concentrating the least cumulative points to the most severe case!

Who knows how severe her case is? Perhaps these creatures can die of fright.

[but nods]

If you want to hope that low points have an affect, then distribute a few points of the bedside manner if you like. And a few points of bandaging and medicine to the one that needs surgery so he doesn't die afterward.

...Well, I did bring up that line of thought...

I am sure that low points have an effect; simply a lesser effect. If we can spare them from the others, then they may help. Better to put them to use.

Then I suggest this.

[IDK, WRITE IT OUT ON SOMETHING:

Man: 11 S, 3 L, 2 M, 2 B
Boy: 7 B, 7 I, 3 BM
Girl: 5 M, 6 BM
]

The older fellow needs bandaging, maybe more, I'd have to see his stomach. The little girl...medicine. And reassurance. The boy... [twitches a little as he looks at him] ...surgery, I'd guess.

Luckily it seems we have the most surgery, so at least we're best equipped to deal with the worst problems.

[nods] He could probably use some bedside manner, too...he looks like he might be in a lot of pain.

Intuition and luck to...balance where we're weaker?

Re: ❧ what the hell (discuss)

[personal profile] boxupallthebutterflies 2011-08-21 02:48 am (UTC)(link)

[small smile]

And we have one point for everybody.

I think...the older man should have a few points of surgery, too, in case his wound needs stitching...

[math in head is slow for a kid who's used to thinking with his keyblade, but he's working it out...]
boxupallthebutterflies: (I have a way of seeing)

Re: ❧ what the hell (discuss)

Re: ❧ what the hell (discuss)

[personal profile] unionoftheheart 2011-08-21 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah...if it's a deep gut wound...and if those boy's bones just need to be set, that would be more like bandaging than surgery...

Re: ❧ what the hell (discuss)

[personal profile] unionoftheheart 2011-08-21 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I know...I used to be able to do it...

So...the majority of the medicine and bedside manner for the girl. Most of the bandaging and a few points of surgery and beside manner for the boy. The rest for the man, along with a bit of bedside manner because that's always good...one point of luck for each, and whatever intuition we need to balance things out.
