Nova.

Do you think anyone can really be changed by another person?

. . . Probably?

I don't know. I know people can grow up and stuff or change how they act as time goes on, but... I guess it kinda depends on the person since everyone's different.

People shouldn't be changed anyway, though, unless they're really bad.

It specifically says "ways that you can help change someone" not "ways that someone can be changed".

True.

It still depends on the person. Everyone's different, so... let's figure out a situation. It can be interpreted however we want it to be.

I guess so.

Maybe you can help change someone just by knowing them.

—Yeah. Just being someone's friend could help a lot.

Helping them out whenever they need it could work, too.

That's pretty general, though. And won't always lead to change

No, but it could.

Helping someone to change just by knowing them is pretty general, too.

Re: Discussion

Fine, then let's get specific. If you take the time to get to know someone, you'll see that they have a differen't idea of the world than you do, which can make you question the things you always too for granted, and have a better idea of how to treat people. If you're a decent person, that'll change how you think about problems.

[s-sighs]

Mine kinda fits under that, too. Helping people. That still helps them though, because everyone's gonna have a different way of handling things, and it can help you get to know the person. If someone wants to be left alone because that helps them most, the person can figure that out and... Well, it's the same thing you said, kinda. It changes how you think because you gotta learn how to help them.

Respect could help, too. If you respect someone's opinions, that's gonna help too. It might make them reconsider things, which still works with 'knowing someone'.

Yeah, you're right. This can all pretty much fall under "have a relationship with someone" right?

Re: Discussion

... Think we could get away with just that?

Or we could just split it up into respect, understanding, and friendship.

[personal profile] takeabow 2014-09-07 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, splitting it up is fine.

Should we talk about how you can negatively change someone?
shananigans: (Darren58)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] shananigans 2014-09-07 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
It could be the opposite. If you don't respect someone, if you don't understand them, and you don't try to do anything that could help them, it's just gonna make them want to be a bad person. Probably.

I mean, it seems kinda obvious, doesn't it? Good things will do good things, bad things will do bad things.

Unless we get stuck in some weird mirror world where good is bad and bad is good, but I'd rather not get stuck in that kind of situation.
