Talking to them, obviously.

Yep. Doing something for a person can help change them, too.

Yeah. And saying "help change" generally means it's for the better, right? Otherwise it'd just say "change someone" so...

Interesting... change can be forced upon someone regardless of their intent, so the methods you choose depend on whether or not you want someone to change for their own good, or yours.

[she nods]

Mm. "Help change" usually means the other person at least wants to try and change themselves. So, besides talking to them and doing something for them, what else?
chronophobia: (Everything is some level of 'probably.')

The problem is, you can't change someone unless they've already decided to change for themselves. The decision lies entirely up to them. You can always encourage or discourage them, but ultimately all we're doing is "trying".

The question said "help" though, so it's like... Let's stick with positive things.

Yeah, no. "Beatings will continue until morale improves" sort of thing-- no.

And how does hard work involve someone other than the person changing?
chronophobia: (Did he say something? Was it cute?)

Uh huh.

...You could close buttons or pull zippers up for someone you're helping change.

Trying's better than doing nothing at all. You can't force it, no, but sometimes you can't just stand idly by and let someone self-destruct if that's the path they're on.

Not denying that. And if the question was something like "How does someone change?" then maybe.

That only makes someone resent you. If that's the kind of change you want to make, whatever, but I think it's missing the point.

It only says to help change someone.
