Tiger's Eye - Game 198

You find yourself standing in a small, snowy clearing in a pine forest. It's nighttime and bitterly cold, moreso than Camelot; the stars go on forever, and there's a very bright full moon. You can see quite easily. There's a stone archway behind you, and through it you can see the Ring, still with the tables full of mead laid out. Scattered around the clearing are twenty-four free-standing wooden doors, carved and polished. They don't seem like they'd lead anywhere if you opened them, but well, #personae.

I'm Edmund, it's nice to meet you. Josh is a good friend of mine.

You’re inside, in a dense and smokey hall. A large fire burns brightly in the hearth. Nearby, an old man sits with his leg up on a stool, his trousers pulled up to bare a large, gangrenous sore. A woman crouches, herbs and water and medicinal supplies laid out beside her. She holds a torch that she has just lit from the fire, and seems about the cauterize the sore; the man’s face is set against pain, yet he looks strangely excited.

It looks like she's taking care of his wound. Though why he looks excited is beyond me...

Is she going to burn it? Is that a pyre?

You mean the big fire? That's just an overgrown fireplace, like the one in the Great Hall. And yes, she's planning to burn it.

We're to pick something in this scene that's the most important, take it with us, and say what it does magically. That's certainly interesting.

Well, the basic of the scene is that the man here was injured. It must have been days ago if the wound has become this infected. As a result he's come to this woman who, as a sort of doctor or healer, is trying to help him from getting more sick by treating the wound. That means cleaning away the icky bits and sealing it with fire before it gets worse. Normally that's very painful, so I'm not sure why he seems excited.

I can pick for us if you would rather?
