Heliodor

[There are no real rooms in this game, but despite all the people, the Ring seems roomy enough that you can go off in a little huddle with your team without bumping elbows with any other team -- and if you’re the type to notice this sort of thing, you may realize that although you can still see and hear everybody else, their presence doesn’t really seem to intrude upon your discussion. It would be a stretch to say they’re muted. . . but somehow, things don’t get too loud or disruptive to your conversation.]

[Whoa, what is this.]

[STUDYING THAT TINFOIL BALL.] It's...metal...that you can crumple up?

You can keep things inside of it fresh, but we don't have much.

Tinfoil.

You can?

How? And how do they make it so thin without it falling apart while making it?

Is that what it's called?

Yep. You mostly use it with food. To keep things fresh, like Jason said, or to cook something.
wouldntkilladragon: (Well let me think....)

Cook? Oh, I could see that, it'd be good for increasing heat.

...and if you could get things cold, that could work too.

It's made from aluminum. They use a hot and cold process a few times to help get it to the desired thickness. There's some other factors, but I don't know 'em—guess I only know so much.

But I bet there's something in the library on it.

Or you could leave it rolled up and throw it at the back of someone's head.

Aluminum? Is that one of those composite metals?

Hot and cold presses...maybe if it wasn't moved until it cooled...something to keep it from binding, it just might...

Why would you want to do that? That seems like a waste for something so useful.

[I am geeking about this.]

No, it's an element.

Element? The...stuff you mix to go into a composite? [Trying to remember what he read.]

So...so it is a base metal you can mine?

You don't have to try too hard.

This is important stuff. I'm a blacksmith, I should know this stuff.

And if it's possible to get stuff this thin and still in one piece...even if it's not weaponry, it could have a lot of applications. And there's a bunch of stuff to make new metals stronger with those composites and new techniques that I don't think I've ever heard of before.

[Paaaaause.] And I just...like knowing more about all of it.

...can we keep it?

Can always pick it back up again. Shit's easy to rip but otherwise pretty sturdy.

[Heliodor has decided to keep the tinfoil. There's no alterations to it, except for Rider carefully uncrumpling it some and looking it over.]

[Blacksmith boy is basically geeking over the new metal type and how thin it can be and wants to keep it to study it. *_*]

...true.

It is thin, the fact it stayed together at all is pretty impressive. I'll have to see if there is a book on how to do it or just figure it out.
