❧ Ruby (Game 23)

You find yourselves in an ornate garden maze, hedges towering high above your head. If you continue to look up, you’ll see a dark sky, glittering with bright stars in unrecognizable constellations. The moon is full and bright. The leaves of the hedges are dense and dark green, riddled with bunches of tiny white flowers and the occasional cluster of red berries.

There are four exits around in the hedge around you, and a gazebo hung heavily with blossoming vines in the center of the small clearing. The air is hushed and quiet; your voices are clear, but other sounds are muffled, as if unwilling to break the silence.

. . . Hmm.

It seems we must choose.

It seems like it. Unless there are other locks somewhere.

I-I like "strength" and "reason"...

Strength is definitely important. We should get that one.

Do you think there'd be more...?

Those--were my thoughts exactly, actually--

"Caution" m-might be good, too, but those two seem the most important.
adharma: (never judge us)

Re: ❧ start

[personal profile] adharma 2011-04-02 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm, it is. Though foresight could avoid a losing situation and reason could trump either. There all with their own advantage.

I have no idea.

I like ingenuity too . . . In case there's something strength can't get by.

I believe that having reason would allow one to proceed with caution. . . . All of these are important traits. To be exercised in moderation and balance. But--those two--I believe they are the most encompassing.

I would take foresight and ingenuity, because they would work well together. Strength seems best paired with ruthlessness.

[nods!]

A-as long as it doesn't just mean physical strength.

Reason must be applied to all of them. What use is unreasonable ruthlessness or ingenuity? Or caution? They are all important, but . . .
righthandsmoke: (His eyes are big X's)

Re: ❧ start

[personal profile] righthandsmoke 2011-04-02 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
But we don't really need ruthlessness, do we?

It does not specify . . . but that is also important. It stands outside of the other chests. They seem to be mental in scope.
adharma: (drop dead darling)

Though, I wonder, should we pick what we lack? Or is this something less directly understood. . .

Mm. I-if the rest have to do with the mind... m-maybe "strength" also does, so it wouldn't have to be specific...

Re: ❧ start

[personal profile] unfortunateson 2011-04-02 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I assumed--we were to pick the two we would most want to proceed with, were we to lose everything else. The two we feel would best equip us to win.
righthandsmoke: (That seemed to take all day)

[personal profile] righthandsmoke 2011-04-02 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's as important as the others. We'd get more use with a different combination.
