On each side of the screen there is a table with numbered boxes. Sapphire's numbered boxes matches the number of Citrine present, and Citrine's matches the number of Sapphire present.

There is a quill in ink, and small sheets of paper.

Neither do I. That they want to save their world is understandable, but I wish there was some way to work with them, rather than pitting us against one another to win memories.

I believe there's a way. We just have to find an alternative they'd agree to.

In order to do that, I would need to understand the situation more. I barely understand why they're doing this, let alone why these particular means are necessary. It would be easier to come up with a substitute method knowing all the facts.

To be honest, I don't know if they remember why they're doing it ... just that they "have" to.

Maybe it's stupid, but if it's the only thing you know, and no one's put it in your head you can do it different -- not everyone thinks that way! Not everyone knows that sort of thing. You can come here thinking you're one sort of person, and you learn a little more about yourself, and shit, you're something else entirely.
