Neji and Kyouko are my choices.

But we've only two maidens to choose between.

What? For which role?

A fair maiden...

[do we have such a thing?]

Our fair maiden, of course. You suit the role and the kind of maiden I would prefer in this tale.

Since we don't know what the roles are going to end up being, it would be best to choose someone who can take care of themselves, don't you think?

I'm not sure I really suit the roll of a fair anything. Do I look like a "gentle flower" to you?

. . .Fine, whatever. At least I'll probably get to sit out of whatever stupid activity this freak dreams up.

He said that it is up to us to define the characteristics of a maiden; you may change the interpretation of the role however you like so that it suits you.

It would be.

[reminded a bit of the damsel in Odile's game]

Not that any of us are delicate, but it's difficult to predict what it will mean to be a fair maiden. It's best to give the primary roles to people who will be able to handle whatever they turn out to be.

[vaguely surprised, but not arguing... for once]

What about the maiden?
