Kunzite

[ You are in a dirt-walled storeroom filled with burlap sacks. It smells like apples. The sacks are, in fact, filled with apples of all colors, if you open them. The walls are strung with something like Christmas lights, if Christmas lights were shaped like apples.

In the center of the room is a low table with a handful of pens, a stack of red slips of paper, and a stack of green slips of paper. There are also thirteen envelopes -- one labeled To Start, and the rest labeled:

3. Citrine
4. Coral
5. Emerald
6. Iolite
7. Kunzite
8. Peridot
9. Ruby
10. Sapphire
11. Tiger's Eye
12. Turquoise ]

Black writing inks itself under the words To Start on the first envelope. It reads:

Instructions:

On each of the twenty red cards, write one noun, and a definition of the word.

(A noun is a person, place, or thing.)

On each of the three green cards, write one adjective, and a definition of the word.

(An adjective is a describing word that gives more information about a noun.)

When you are finished, place all the cards in this envelope.

Seven noun cards appear at the edge of the table, and writing appears in shining gold around the dark walls of the room:

There will be twelve rounds of game play. Each team will judge a round, in order.

To start every round, an adjective will appear underneath a team name. You put the noun card you think the judging team will like the most in the envelope to be submitted anonymously. The judging team will choose the winning card, and the team that played the winning card will earn a point.

The teams with the most points will win the game.

Lazy, disorganized Personae. Okay, fine, twenty-three words. Let's make this quick.

Well, I've never played this game before, though we could write random words like "dango", "tyrannical", "bothersome", "incest"... Defining them should be easy enough.

Lazy could be one of our adjectives...

I agree. Lazy: someone who doesn't do the setup of their own games and sleeps more than fifty eight hours a day.

Do you just pick a definition if it's a word with two like "incest"... 'Nail tree', 'sunflower', 'maze', 'games'...

I like both of those.

His is better. It's more specific.

We'll use that one, then. Then what other words...

Perhaps. Incest: a cute pink animal with big ears. Sunflower: a way of getting lost. Nail tree: a point of reference for the lost. Maze: a bothersome place where you walk into by accident. Games: an unnerving practice of debatable usefulness.
